One Year Ago Today
One year ago today, we were making our way to the airport for the adventure of a lifetime. As we pulled out of the driveway today, we reminisced about the drive to the airport with Megan and Lynn last year. It was a day much like today - cold, snowy, still dark outside. The level of excitement we felt was, I think, unprecedented up to that point in our lives. Even our wedding hadn't felt like this. Effervescent is the best word I can come up with to describe what we felt that morning. Here, see for yourself. Can't you just see the glittering sparkles emanating? We had just received Dinkeneh's social report about five minutes before we walked out the door, and we made an unplanned detour to print it out so we could oooh and ahhh over him during the many flights scheduled that day. He was beautiful, and we couldn't wait to meet the little boy in those five pictures.
This week, we celebrate many beginnings: the beginning of our trip to Ethiopia, the beginning of a friendship, the beginning of our life as a family of three, and perhaps a few others. Be prepared for a lot of posts looking back, and a couple looking forward.
Happy Feb. 2nd, everyone!
